About Henry Backe, MD

Dr. Henry Backe will be traveling to Guatemala for this year’s GHHF mission. This mission is a unique opportunity to offer physicians, therapists, nurses, students, & volunteers the ability to take part in a cross cultural educational experience. The mission is held approximately every 18mths. This 12-day medical mission is led by a team of specialized & skilled surgeons, hand therapists & dedicated volunteers. The first day conferences are held to teach, educate and exchange ideas with local medical providers of Central America in new concepts in hand surgery and therapy. Next, is the patient screening, approximately 200 children are evaluated to determine their best treatment plan & 60-70 are selected to receive surgery. The children who aren’t candidates for surgery are still treated for their hand/upper extremity issue, including assessments, therapy, exercises, adaptive aids and/or fabrication of custom orthotics by the volunteer CHTs. Please consider donating to help Dr. Backe & this team of amazing medical professionals & volunteers on this important mission. The cost to sponsor ONE child's complete participation in this mission, from transportation to the site, to screening, surgery supplies, post-op orthotics & post-op rehab is only US$450. Any support you can give is appreciated & no amount is too small!
