About GHHF Patel Family Team
I will be returning to Guatemala for my 5th trip in April of 2024. I am excited to have my wife Gati Dharani and my 4-yr-old curious daughter Oviya Patel join me in this mission which is close to my heart.
We are not
asking for any financial support for our personal mission expenses. We are
accepting donations to sponsor and defray the cost of our surgical
procedures, equipment, and medications. With government regulations on industry
, it has become harder and harder to get industry sponsors for sutures, plates
and screws, medications and other equipment. In recent years , our team
has been able to offer life changing procedures averaging less than 500 dollars
per surgery. We screen about 150 children and operate over 5 days
, averaging about 60 surgeries per mission. Please learn more about

Over the last 19 years we have:
- Evaluated 1,925 patients for hand surgery and therapy
- Completed surgery on 739 patients under 18
- Fabricated 1,453 orthotics
- Educated over 3,500 MDs, therapists, and students
- Brought one child to New Mexico to receive extensive hand surgery and three children to Shriners for surgery
- Constructed 55+ latrines
- 21 efficient ONIL stoves
- Funded the digging of hillside trenches to lay piping to supply fresh water throughout the village
- Distributed crucial fertilizer needed to replenish Chichoy Alto’s disappearing crops
- Distributed emergency maize to families struggling with malnutrition
- Purchased school supplies to the 100+ elementary aged children (and continues to do so)
- Sponsored 16+ children to attend high school and 15+ teenagers to attend post high school program
- Distributed 32 Ecofilters in the village of Chuchuk’a Alto
- Completed the construction and expansion of Chichoy Alto’s brand-new elementary school and first ever middle school
- Established a chicken program to provide sustainable protein to community student
- We continue to fund an emergency food program that began as a result of COVID-19 in March 2020
- We are currently working on funding the construction on multiple safe concrete family homes and have completed 5 of 30
