Dimitri Christoforou, MD / Guatemala Healing Hand's November 2025 Service Trip

My goal is simple—to use my skills as a hand surgeon to help people who don’t have access to the care they need. Working with the Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation has shown me just how life-changing this work can be. Every trip reminds me why I do what I do—to help restore movement, independence, and confidence to children who might otherwise go without treatment. I’m proud to be part of a volunteer team that gives their time, talent, and hearts to make a real difference, one hand and one patient at a time.

About Dr. Christoforou joins Guatemala Healing Hand's Mission 2025

This November, I will once again have the privilege of joining the Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 2004 that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with upper extremity disabilities in Guatemala. The Foundation’s mission combines free surgical care, hand therapy, and education to empower both patients and local healthcare providers. I first became involved with the Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation several years ago and have been deeply inspired by the impact this team has on the lives of those we serve. Each trip reminds me of the incredible resilience of our patients and the power of collaboration among volunteers from across the world. Together, we are able to restore function, independence, and hope for individuals who would otherwise go without care. The Foundation is fully funded by its volunteers and the generous donations it receives—every dollar directly supports surgical supplies, medications, equipment, and patient care. I am reaching out for your support to help us continue this life-changing work. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
